Historic Preservation

Hunters Capital believes in retaining historic structures that create Capitol Hill’s sought after character and desirable ambience. The auto row showrooms that pepper the Pike/Pine corridor are architectural gems that require unique preservation strategies. We recognized early on that growth and redevelopment must be embraced if these historic buildings are to be kept. Working with the city and other community stakeholders, we helped create the Pike/Pine Preservation Overlay District. This special district provides incentives for property owners to keep existing “character structures” rather than tear them down. A Conservation Core was also established within the district to further ensure that new development is more compatible with the special scale and character of existing development in this critical area.

Our portfolio of storied historic buildings highlights our mission of preservation; all have received major exterior restorations and interior renovations. Painstaking attention has been given to returning building façades to their former grandeur and seismic upgrades ensure the structures will stand for years to come.
