Built in 1926 as Chrysler Automotive Agency and General Motors dealership, the building was acquired in the 1980's by Michael Malone for the headquarters of AEI Music Services Inc. and then became DMX Music. Situated at the gateway to the Pike Pine neighborhood, the building is located just east of First Hill with close proximity to I-5 and the central business district. In 2009/2010 Malone's company, Hunters Capital, again renovated the building inside and out. Exterior highlights include the refurbishing and restoration of the terracotta exterior surfaces, new lighting systems, tuck-pointing the brick along the East elevation, new glazing to 60% of the windows and an additional 25 tons of HVAC was added for a building total of 40 tons. Interior improvements include the complete build out of 9,000sq ft for master tenant, Blick Art Materials.  Highlighted in this improvement is the refurbishment of 8,000SF of original terrazzo flooring along the Broadway street front.  The building currently houses Dick Blick Art Materials a art supply store for professional artists, students and teachers with over 30 stores in 15 states, Rock Box a karaoke bar with private rooms for small group karaoke parties, Substantial Inc a web application company and SugarPill a dispensary of medicinal & culinary herbs & spices, gourmet salts, chocolates, cocktail bitters & pantry essentials.
