"Ballou Wright Building"
Owner/Manager
Located In the heart of the Pine/Pike Triangle on Capitol Hill
Commercial and Retail mixed use building
Approx. 30,000 square feet
In May of 2008 Hunters Capital purchased the Ballou Wright Building. The Principle, Michael Malone, a long-time Capitol Hill resident and business owner, felt that Ballou Wright Building, with its eclectic past as automotive parts warehouse, and artist collective, offered great opportunity to restore a historic building and enhance the neighborhood.
As existing leases expired, Hunters Capital began to re-develop the building. Some smaller second- and third-floor units were combined to create spacious, open work spaces with an abundance of natural light, making them ideal work environments for creative business types.
Typical small-interior remodels were done in an effort to reveal the building's historic character. Improvements included finishing the original hardwood fir floors to their rich color and texture, restoring the original Otis car elevator, creating a functional storefront, replacing light fixtures, and revamping the entry space into an inviting, street-level feature of the building.
In the lower half of the building, three of the larger spaces were combined to create room for a new master tenant, Creature Advertising with approximately 18,000 square feet of new, completely renovated class A loft-office space.
